Spring has many interesting skiesQ

Lots of beautiful clouds in the sky and a high tide to greet me on the other side of the boardwalk

It was cloudy and overcast all day long up until the last few minutes at sunset

School got out at about the same tide as the tide was high lucky me there were also some beautiful clouds floating above Saco Bay too

The tide was low but the cloud were fabulous and flying high over the creek on their way to the ocean The trend reversed itself later as the tide turned and both tide and clouds from the ocean filled in over the coast

As I focused north I spotted a low band of clouds at the base of the Lost Coast Mountains

They are so ravenous and there are sooooo many Those who are lucky to crowd in to the feeder get choice seeds Most of the white crowned sparrows juncos golden crowned sparrows and larkspurs are scavenging from the ground below

Stormy winter weather is really hammering the newly arrive migrating songbirds they arrived by the thousands in a break of good weather Now we are closed back in by another grrr winter storm cold and snowing heavily Their little lives are in great peril 19 degrees this afternoon 7 C

Barren seeming islands and rich waters

The Salcha River s ice has broken up and is getting caught in jams causing water to back up So far it is not a threat However these large rafts of ice and more water are contributing to the much larger ice jams and flooding on the Tanana River into which this smaller river flows The Tanana River flooding is causing evacuations for some residents as water inundates homes

Much of the meltwater flooding the area has found it s way to the Tanana River
